Abstract

Determines a classification of materials intended for manufacturing of piston rings based on mechanical properties, together with the stresses which the materials can withstand. Applicable to the making of piston rings not in excess of 200 mm diameter for reciprocating internal combustion engines. Also applicable to piston rings for compressors working under similar conditions.
